Alma Mater Celebrates her 121st High School Day
Ilocos Sur National High School finally celebrated its 121st High School Day on March 25, 2023, at the ISNHS Centennial Gymnasium, with the theme: Renewed Commitment in Defying Odds to Transcend Heights of Excellence and Solidarity. The wait may be long, but the joy of finally being able to celebrate after so many years is unparalleled.
During the High School Day Celebration, several activities took place to make the event enjoyable and memorable. The program was divided into three; The first part of the event was the Thanksgiving Mass which was held at the Gymnasium at 8:00 am, the mass was attended by Teachers, Employees, and Students. Next to it was the 2nd part which is the program. Firstly, Mrs. Editha C. Bagcal, Principal IV had her welcome address. Followed by a delightful message from Ms. Gemma Q. Tacuycuy, the CESO V Schools Division Superintendent. Then, we, the Grade 10 Maxwell proudly showed our winning performance during the Hiphop Dance Craze. Afterward, Mr. Joseph Q. Obrero, the Head Teacher VI of the ESP Department introduced the guest speakers. Came next was the inspiring talk of Atty. Lovely Anne Joy C. Lazo, the Outstanding Alumna, Class of 2010. Then the guest speaker was given a plaque of honor. Next was the intermission number from the Teachers' choir. And then the awarding of outstanding Teachers, Employees, and Retirees came next. And to end the second part of the program, Mr. Rommel R. Rabo, Asst. Principal II of SHS gave his words of gratitude. Now here comes the exciting part The third part of the program started at 1:00 PM at the Field. The first thing was of course, prayer, and it was led by the Head Teacher VI of the ESP Department, Mr. Joseph Q. Obrero. Then, the Welcome address of Mr. Reynario T. Viloria, Assistant Principal II of SHS. Next was the Field Demonstration; First, Calisthenics which was the Galaw Pilipinas and was performed by the Sanggalaw Dance troupe, 5 representatives from each class, Teachers, and practice Teachers from different departments also joined. Second, was the performance of the Grade 9 students from different sections who represented the Festival Dances of Ilocos Sur. I was very impressed with their performance but the Grade 9- Becquerel stand out the most to me. Came next was the performance of the top 3 winners of the Grade 10 Hiphop Dance Craze, which were the Mabini, Agoncillo, and Maxwell. After that, the teachers continued the celebration by playing traditional games.
It reminds us of the value of education in society and encourages us to strive for success in our academic pursuits. The celebration brings together students, teachers, alumni, and other stakeholders to reflect on their journey and appreciate their accomplishments. Celebrating high school days can serve as an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the hard work, dedication, and achievements of students, teachers, and staff in creating a positive and supportive environment.
